Former boy group F.able’s member Jaehyun (real name Shim Jaehyun) has passed away at the young age of 23 after battling leukemia, according to reports on July 2.
Jaehyun died on June 30 following a sudden deterioration in health despite previous signs of recovery. It was revealed that even many of his close acquaintances were unaware of his illness, making the news all the more heartbreaking.
Fans have taken to social media to express their sorrow and disbelief, leaving comments like “You were only 23… Rest in peace,” “Thank you for being our light,” and “You always gave your best. We’ll miss you dearly.”
Born in 2002, Jaehyun debuted as the youngest member of the five-member boy group F.able, which included members Sihoon, Junhyeong, Jeong, and Hojun. The group made their debut with tracks like “Euratcha,” “Run Run Run,” and “Travel,” and built a fanbase through concerts and fan meetings, particularly in Japan.

However, in August 2023, the group entered a hiatus due to exhaustion and scheduling challenges. Shortly afterward, members Junhyeong, Jeong, and Sihoon re-debuted in a new group called ENPHAZE, effectively marking F.able’s disbandment.
Jaehyun had maintained a low profile following the group’s disbandment, with no public updates on his health. His untimely death has shocked fans and industry peers alike.
This tragedy follows another recent loss in the Korean entertainment industry, with news of actress Lee Seo-yi’s passing on June 20 surfacing just a day prior, further deepening the sorrow within the fandom community.
Rest in peace, Jaehyun. You were truly loved and will not be forgotten.
